BRIGHT

I love Will smith, no doubt about this, and he did such a beautiful number on this one.
Bright looked more like a modern day adaptation of the Lord of the rings, it had all the elves, Orcs and even dwarfs, just without the ring and Bilbo Bargains.

A weird enchantment tale, with a lot of shooting, guns/Wands, running, and quirky/funny dialog, it kept me glued to my seat and i have watched it twice already, so will give you a little story line and urge you to watch this extraordinary Netflix movie.

In this modern day lord of the rings, humans, Elves, orcs and fairies all co exist from the on set of time. 2 corps, a human (Will Smith) and an Orc (Joel Edgerton) find a wand which is regarded as illegal and guarded by the authorities as almost everyone is ready to kill for it, they start a run around, in order to get it into the right hands, eventually they do leaving a crazy trail behind.

This is a must watch if you love fantasy, action, drama and comedy all wrapped into one, check out the trailer and let me know what you think.

The Accountant

I think I am having the writer's block, there is this one movie I can't seem to pen down,, I have watched it twice and I thoroughly enjoyed it but I can't seem to write anything about it, I feel like I can't describe it or even express how I felt about it. So I am going to just say a few words and if you have watched it please share your comments, other readers can get a feel of the movie from your thoughts.

Sometimes i love a little Action and Drama, this was one of those movies that almost leaves your jaws dropped, with a totally unexpected story line.
The movie depicts a boy with a mental disorder (Autism), abandoned by his mother. He eventually turns out to be a very dangerous mercenary, a literal one man army..

On the other end he grows up to be an accountant, who uncooks the books for dangerous criminal organizations around the world, he then decides to go legal and work for a legitimate company, only to uncover lies, deceit and even murder.

It was a story that spoke of the silent bond felt between the father and son. unspoken love in brotherhood, and the power of rising from your faults and inadequacies.

As i said before, i cant totally describe this movie, so i will simply say, please go and watch.

My take on Skinny Girl in Transit, Season 4.

So this is for everyone that watches
the series SGIT (Skinny girl in Transit) by Ndani TV from Gtbank. I, just like most people in Lagos, enjoy this series, but I have to say Season 4 nearly drove me nuts, like what the hell was wrong with Tiwa. She literally blew up everything in her own  face.
Why wait so long to reveal something that technically was not a huge problem at first?

Then Shalewa and Mohammed’s drama at the middle, like I was so disappointed, he could plainly have stood up for her in that situation regardless, it was a defining moment in my opinion but I am glad they worked it out. I digress.

Back to Tiwa, like What daaaaa, from the lies, to the shadowy and sneaky behavior, this is why you should be upfront, my idea was to simply send a text, in this situation send a text that’s like 3 in one, the person will read it and for sure call you back and it can be trashed, at least you sent the text, not whats app, text message, those long epistle types. I legit just kept screaming, “just send a text” it would look weird maybe insensitive but it would be out there, no?

Its so refreshing to actually have a series like this in our own city, with viewers following with such dedication, the acting was also very impressive, cast absolutely lovely, the comic relief executed with such class even with wosilat, i am proud of where we are going in the entertainment industry.

I was totally happy that it eventually cleared and the proposal, i heard was sweeeett, although Mide is a lot for a girl like me, with all the gifts and attention. chewst pain, lool.  But he is an absolute sweet heart and yh deserved honesty.. I was in total suspense though, share your thoughts please, what do you think she could have done?

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

It’s been a while since I wrote, for some reason life gets in the way of all things you would like to do, but I just like every other writer, writes from a special place in our hearts, when its touched we simply can not resist sharing the moment. I watched a very beautiful movie last night, in that its plainly, inexplicably, purely and naturally beautiful.

The secret life of Walter Mitty, was about a very ordinary man who was lost in the circumstances of his life, living in day dreams that could be reality, forgetting to stop dreaming and to start living, deciding to stay in the comfort of his living, slightly reaching out to what he would like to be doing, this was a man who loved the beauty of the world and its wonders but did not do anything about it, his only opportunity to see the world, was through developing images selected for the cover of LIFE, in itself an exceptional magazine.

We tend to forget the people that help create a wonder, people that help create moments, and even more importantly the people who record this moments, it’s a sacrifice that is being made, and this movie lays emphasis on just how important this people are.

The motor of Life magazine is “To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, to draw closer, to find each other and to feel. That is the purpose of Life.” The character experienced encompassing all of the above stated, he flew to Greenland, almost got eaten by a shark, almost got killed by a volcano, went to the high Himalayas, which I think I would like to go someday, he eventually left his comfort zone to find something that was in his pocket, the negative of an image that was said to be the Quintessence of life which it really was, the individuals making their little marks, creating history through every day living.

The Cinematography was well done, the little writings on very unconscious surfaces was intriguing, I don’t think I am doing this movie justice enough, please watch it, it would keep you in a special place unnamed, beautiful warm and unbelievable..

ISOKEN

I do hope you have gone to the cinema for ISOKEN, my Lord, Jade osiberu did such an amazing job. There is a new season of refreshing Nigerian movies coming up and i must say she is definitely making her mark.

Dakore acted the part of Isoken and she was breathtakingly beautiful, she really brought the character to life, I think my most beautiful thought about this movie is the reality of the issue addressed, the pressure put on young ladies to get married can be mind numbing and insane.
The love story was so cute and adorable, A not so young Isoken, who is very ambitious and career oriented was being pressured to settle down and start having babies, between Joseph Benjamin and the white guy (Marc Rhys), it was major confusion, trying to pick between the two. Joseph who was the epitome of  a sort after bachelor, with money, charisma and ambition, while our white bobo who was basically a Nigerian in white skin, gave her the space to be herself and be confident in her beauty.

It was a pretty difficult decision, as her parents, typical Nigerians, accepted Joseph's proposal on her behalf, I was really glad she made the right decision and since I have decided to not be a spoiler, you have to watch it yourself, to find out. The entire cast was refreshing, Funke Akindele was a totally different character from her usual Jennifer, Damilola Adegbite was a beauty trying to start a family, Tina Mba and Patrick Doyle where the endearing parents of Isoken. Overall the Cast was really good, and they made a very impressive movie. Its a 6 out of 10 and a must watch.. check it out and comment below...

Queen of Katwe

I Don't know why it took me this long to watch this movie, for some strange reason I just kept putting it off, but I finally did watch it, and it was amazing, it was so real and authentic, full of life and challenges, i was captivated from the beginning to the end. You would think as it was a Disney movie, it would be all about princesses, palaces, good food and water, even parties.. But it was totally different, it wasn't a fairy tale but hard core truth of lives and circumstances of the people of Uganda..

The Movie was set in slums of Katwe in Kampala, Uganda, telling the true life story of a young girl (phiona mutesi) from a very low background, becoming a chess protegee and champion, whose life began to change after meeting the chess Coach (David Oyelowo), with a fighting spirit she got form her tough mother (Lupita Nyongo), the story talks about the life in the slums in a subtle way, while concentrating on the story, but letting the viewers see at the background, what is common in the environment. she rose from even her failures and her fears, with the help of her coach, amidst the difficulties and discouragement.
The Story spoke a truth that was different from the brutal stories usually told about Africa, on wars and death, the writer made sure that the emotions were felt, and we followed through to the last victory, she became the chess champion in her country, became an inspiration for her people and eventually built a house for her mother in the village, the closing scenes were very touching has they showed the real people whose stories where being told, a somewhat awkward but beautiful touch to the ending.

I was even more impressed, as to the details put into it by lupita nyongo and David oyelowo, they where simply amazing, stepping into the character that seemed quite effortless. with the passion and strength they put into their roles,  I would rate the movie a 8 out of 10. Awesome writing and even more awesome acting, and the Nigerian music infused made me feel so proud..

Anyways I still have to say this, it did not deficit Africa so well, for a first Disney movie in Africa at least they should have showed a better side,  not all the time poverty and lack, sometimes fun, food, and culture.. But with that said, it was a pretty good movie, if you haven't watched it, please do and be inspired.

GOBLIN : The lonely and great god

I wasn't expecting this to be my first review but writing is therapeutic for me, this series totally got me hooked, sad, confused and just basically in a made up emotional mess, I am not sure if any of you watch Korean dramas  but I do, and i would say you should absolutely try it. The Goblin series is an amazing one it has comedy, tragedy and miracles all rapped up into one.
First of all, I will give a brief of the movie and if you are an absolute romantic, be prepared before you click the link at the end of this post..

The Goblin was basically about a man who out of pride made a wrong decision that ended up being killed alongside his sister and family, he was punished by God to walk on the earth for as long as it took him to find the goblin's bride (FYI: this by the way is the most handsome goblin ever)...
The love portrayed in this movie absolutely left me dazed, got me thinking, is it even possible to love this much? the acting was pristine. I legit had to keep telling myself over and over "its just a movie" " its not real" although it seemed like it was, Korean dramas always get me so involved and invested in their series, everything always seems so real, and they put it in a huge effort with details of the era.

Critics have said that the movie was quite stereotyped with the man being wealthy and almost untouchable and the girl being a damsel in distress, which in many ways is very true but the female character was also very strong and the writers made sure to let her grow up before any intimacy was introduced, overall everyone on the production did a really awesome job they deserved the award they got.  I can't quite say I loved the ending,  it seemed like an unnecessary plot twist that she died, although it was a happy ending, i believe it could have been much better.

If you would like to get as emotionally messed up as I did, click the link below, please share your thoughts feelings and just your experience with this series

Main character: Gong Yoo as Kim Shin (goblin), Kim Go Eun as Ji Eun Tak (goblin's bride), Lee Dong Wook as Wang yeo (grim reaper), Yoo In Na as Sunny.
